Chef Pilar Cabrera, co-owner of landmark downtown Oaxaca restaurant La Olla, has always helped out local artists by displaying and promoting their art in her combined restaurant and gallery. But the exhibition and sale beginning February, 2010, of the works of Oaxacan artist Enrique Flores, is particularly significant, since Flores has been one of the most philanthropic contemporary Mexican Artists.

Combining the gastronomic excellence of Chef Pilar Cabrera as experienced at La Olla, with the artistic talent of Maestro Enrique Flores, provides both tourists to Oaxaca and local residents with a treat not often available in the city: an opportunity to indulge in authentic Oaxacan cuisine with a healthy touch, while being able to appreciate and marvel at the art of Enrique Flores – and perhaps take home a piece.

Enrique Flores: Artist from the Mixteca Region of Oaxaca

Enrique Flores has been exhibiting his work throughout Mexico and the United States since 1985. However it was not until the 1994 publication of Arte y Alma de Oaxaca (Art and Soul of Oaxaca) that his stylizing of indigenous Mexican women, as well as the distinctiveness of his work, was brought to the attention of the broader Latin American art enthusiast community. And then in 1998, he was again a featured Oaxacan artist in the landmark publication Imagenes y Colores de Oaxaca (Images and Colors of Oaxaca).
